What we keep, and why

This page explains what happens to an email given to the FASL waitlist. It is short because the waitlist collects one thing.

Who holds it

FASL, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is the controller. Write to fasl.shopae@gmail.com about anything on this page.

What is stored

• The email you typed.
• A record of your consent: the exact sentence you agreed to, the version label of that sentence, a checksum of it, and the time on our server when you pressed the button. We keep the wording so that we can show you later what you actually agreed to, rather than a box saying you did.
• The language the page was in, and a coarse family name for your browser.
• A keyed, shortened fingerprint of the network address you connected from. It is not the address itself, it cannot be turned back into one without a key that is not stored with it, and it is deleted after thirty days. It exists to spot somebody flooding the form.

Nothing else. No name, no phone number, no tracking across other sites, no advertising identifiers, no cookies, and nothing stored in your browser.

Why

To write to you on the day FASL opens, and about FASL after that. That is the whole purpose, and it is the purpose you consented to. The lawful basis is your consent under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021).

Where it goes

The list is held on Supabase servers in Ireland, and the page itself is served by Google Cloud in Belgium. Both are outside the United Arab Emirates, so giving us your email involves a transfer out of the country. You consent to that transfer explicitly when you tick the box, and both providers are bound by their own data processing terms.

How long

• If you never confirm, the record is deleted after seven days.
• If you confirm, it is kept until FASL opens and you have had the letter, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
• The network fingerprint is deleted after thirty days.

What you can ask for

• A copy of what we hold about you.
• A correction, if it is wrong.
• Deletion. We delete the record, and keep only a one-way fingerprint of the email so that we cannot accidentally add you again.
• To withdraw your consent, at any time and without giving a reason. Every letter we send carries a way out, and you can also just write to us.
• To object, or to ask us to stop.

Write to fasl.shopae@gmail.com. We do not ask you to prove who you are beyond replying from the email in question.

Who else sees it

Nobody. The list is not sold, not shared, not rented and not passed to any partner. It is reachable only through a single function that can write to it and cannot read it back.

Children

The waitlist is for adults. The box you tick says you are over 18. If you tell us a record belongs to a child, we delete it.

If this page changes

The wording you agreed to is stored with your record under the version label below, so a change here does not quietly change what you signed up to. A material change means we ask again.
